They're the same, but UK call it cv and US call it resume.
It's curriculum vitae--a short written description of your education, qualifications, previous employment and sometimes also your personal interests, which you send to an employer when you are trying to get a job.

CV stands for "curriculum vitae."
No, Alice, there is a slight difference between CV and resume. So what is the difference?

Uhmm I don't know then, I just know one UK and other one US. Ok let me guess resume is briefer than cv, and it covers only important points. I'm not good at guessing.

The differences between a resume and a curriculum vitae (CV) are the length, what is included and what each is used for.
A resume is a one or two page summary of your skills, experience and education, and brief and concise. A resume does not have more than a page or two.
A CV (Curriculum Vitae) is a longer (at least two page) and more detailed synopsis.
